Are you eating poison?
During a discussion with a friend the subject of food came up. We talked about the advantage of proper diet but how hard it is for the average person to find clean food at the market. Many people don't realize that lawfully, even in a simple can of pinto beans, there may be any number of unnoticed contaminates such as dirt, pieces of bugs, even rat crap. Here in America we have no way of knowing if a product is genetically modified or not.
These concerns are causing some of our people (Israelites) much stress and consumes much valuable time in research and reading heart wrenching and horrifying articles and reports. For some it is one of the foremost things on their mind everyday.
The sad fact is that we truly live in a polluted land. Moral pollution has brought about physical pollution. The people of earth are literally dying in their own filth.
So as Israelites, what can we do about all this? Do we get involved in some organization that researches and petitions the government about these things. Do we take to the streets protesting. Do we search far and wide and pay exorbitant prices for products that are supposed to be poison and contaminate free? Can we really trust these sources not to be lying about their products? Are they possibly selling peace of mind at greatly inflated prices? Who knows? How can we be sure?
The truth is, we can't be sure about anything at all in this land. What we MUST do is rely on our Father and trust that He will guide us and keep us even in the most dangerous situations.
Now I am not saying throw caution and common sense to the wind. Not at all. But I see some of my brothers and sisters afflicted with worry and spending way too much time on this subject and forgetting that there is nothing that will stop the direction of the world. It is headed toward destruction and trying to correct it or delay it is like saying you want to delay the reign of Messiah.
Consider the following verses about worry and poison.
Matthew 6:25-34
25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?
28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?
31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.
Here is a thought provoking word about poison.
Mark 16:17-18
17 And these signs shall accompany them that believe: in my name shall they cast out demons; they shall speak with new tongues;
18 they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
These verses came up in that discussion and we realized that no amount of concern, worry, or political action will change the world but we have the Father and He is able to protect his children. Worrying is forgetting to trust and rest in the fact that He is a miracle worker. So if you look in the mirror and see that you are maybe too concerned with what you can not change just lay it at His feet and rest.
Please leave your thoughts and comments below. It will help us all. Shalom

Speaking of Food
This may be a subject some of you will reject but maybe you should do a little research before you judge. The subject I'm talking about is dumpster diving.
That's right. This is a very fast growing culture of people who now call themselves freegans. They are protesting against waste in America.
The statistics on food waste are staggering. You may want to be sitting down for this. Almost 40% of the food produced in America is wasted. That is 1,400 calories per day for every man, woman, and child in America. Do I have your attention yet?
10% of the total energy used in the U.S. is used just to get food to the table. A whopping 80% of all water used in the U.S. is used getting food to the table.
So what can we do about this waste? Here is a video to watch and you can see hundreds more by searching freegan or dumpster diving on youtube.
Ok, I know you are wondering so I will tell you. Yes I have done a pretty good little bit of this and it is amazing what shows up in just my small rural county. One of my best finds was a bottle of perfume brand new in the box which I sold on ebay for $55.00. Someone had evidently cleaned out a house and put the stuff in a dumpster behind a store.
I have gotten so much good stuff and the competition is tough even here. Diving has become big. Let me know your opinion on this.
